We need your help to bring these socially important stories to the screen and into the public consciousness. Necessary Films participates in the Arts Engine Fiscal Sponsorship Program. Arts Engine is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation and is able to accept tax-deductible contributions on behalf of our films.

To Donate Follow These Four Steps

1. Please make your check payable to:

Arts Engine, Inc.

2. Please be sure to put the project's name in the check's memo line. (ie: Bad Blood or Genome)

3. Mail the check directly to us for submission to Arts Engine:

New York, NY 10065

4. Email us about your contribution and we will update you on the film's progress.

Donations of more than $10,000 receive on-screen credit in the broadcast film.

Host a House Party

If you are passionate about the arts or one of our films, help us get the word out by hosting a fundraising house party. You provide the refreshments and the guest list, we provide everything else. If you are in the tri-state area, we will arrange a visit from the filmmaker to host a Q&A about the film and the filmmaking process.

Hosts receive 2 tickets to a screening of the film and a copy of the DVD.

Double Your Donation

Many employers will match their employees' charitable contributions. We suggest you contact your Human Resources Department to find out how.

There are many ways to help support our meaningful documentaries. Do you have a relationship with a member of a corporation or foundation interested in supporting the arts or health policy issues in general? We'd love to speak with you!

Please contact us should you have any questions about the film or donations. Filmmaking is a collaborative process and we welcome making the journey with you.

Many, many thanks,

Marilyn Ness

  • Thanks to our generous supporters and a dedicated and discounted crew we were able to complete four days of filming on Bad Blood in 2008. We filmed interviews with key scientists, drug company representatives, doctors, and nurses on the frontlines of the epidemic as well as interviews with families struck by tragedy when their children were infected by HIV tainted medication. All of the interviews are tremendously powerful and truly bring home the scope and depth of the devastation. Our volunteer researchers have been combing the archives for old footage that shows the epidemic unfolding before our eyes each night on the evening news.

Our latest fundraising initiative put us well on our way towards raising the $90,000 we need to edit the film. Many thanks to all of you who supported our efforts and for those of you planning to do so. Here's to great strides forward in 2008. Onward!
